Now with a new Dell computer running the most current version of Windows 10, they are unable to get the computer to recognize the scanner scanner functionality, even though they were able to get the printer to work with a version of the driver software for either vista or 7 (I can't recall right now which one it was).ĭoes anyone have any advice on how to get the computer to recognize a scanner is present, or is there something inherent about the hardware which will not ever work on this new computer? case one of the Dell Printer dn Printers Drivers For Windows 10 turns out to still be incompatible.
The previous computer ran Windows 10 which was upgraded from an original Windows 7 installation and they were able to use the scanning functions, despite this model not specifically being supported by Dell to work with Windows 10. kjr/docs/Dell-mfp-1815dn-printer-drivers-xtuly.rst.

I was sorely disappointed to find on this thread that my perfectly functioning Dell MFP 1815dn was not supported by Windows 10, meaning Dell had not built a driver for it. I know the easy answer is to buy a new printer with wifi/ethernet i'faces, but it's a perfectly good and serviceable printer for our very limited use and, more importantly would contribute to the further degradation of this organism, planet Earth. I've tried scouring the net for some way to perhaps re-compile, for an ARM CPU, a driver from the 3 available drivers on the Dell web-site (Win, Linux,Mac osx). We replaced our Konica-Minolta copier (Bizhub all-in-one) with a Xerox WorkCentre 5330 (B&W only, 30ppm, 10/100/1000 -yup, gigabit) and couldnt. CUPS "sees" the printer but I can find neither a driver nor a ppd file for it. The new system is working fine as a printer only as Windows 10 does not recognize my Dell 1815dn as a scanner (it is setup over the network by the way). Hardware is Dell 1130 usb attached mono laser printer. File server part works a charm, problem comes with the printer part. I am trying to create a file and print server on an RPi 2 B+, running raspbian. As it says, this is my first post so bear with me, please.
